Empowering the Next Generation of Therapists
At Jessica Sweet Therapy, we believe in mentorship, collaboration, and lifelong learning.
Our Sweet J Therapy Training Program gives graduate-level interns the opportunity to develop real-world clinical skills while supporting individuals, couples, and families in our community.
About the Program
Learning. Growing. Making a Difference.
The Sweet J Therapy Training Program provides graduate-level interns with supervised clinical experience in a compassionate and collaborative environment.
Our interns work directly with clients under the supervision of licensed clinicians and receive ongoing mentorship to help them grow into confident, ethical, and skilled therapists.
At Sweet J Therapy, we emphasize more than just clinical techniques, we cultivate self-awareness, cultural humility, and authentic therapeutic presence.
Our training program includes:
- Evidence-based approaches integrated with humanistic, systemic, and experiential practices
- Culturally sensitive and inclusive care for individuals, couples, and families
- Weekly supervision and team consultation with licensed clinicians
- Professional development opportunities focused on ethics, trauma-informed care, and diversity
- A supportive community where interns collaborate, learn, and grow together
Interns gain valuable experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families across a wide range of presenting concerns including anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues, neurodivergence, and life transitions.

Melinda is completing her graduate studies at National University, where her training includes comprehensive study in Marriage and Family Therapy. She specializes in child and adolescent therapy, and also welcomes adults, couples, and families into her practice.
While Melinda favors narrative and experiential approaches, she integrates a variety of therapeutic methodologies to tailor each session to her clients’ specific needs. Her work is grounded in compassion, authenticity, and cultural sensitivity, offering an affirming space for LGBTQ+, polyamorous, and kink communities.
“Therapy is a collaborative journey, and I sincerely look forward to traveling that path with you and your loved ones.”
Melinda’s background as an emergency veterinary technician deepened her capacity to connect with individuals in crisis and to walk with them through grief and loss.
